"The Immigrants" sculpture in Battery Park

Writer's picture: Joshua GJoshua G

The bronze statue entitled ‘The Immigrants” located in the center of Battery Park.

The statue depicting immigrants from many cultures, was sculpted by Luis Sanquino in 1973, later donated by Samuel Rudin, himself the son of immigrants.

Right next to the statue is Castle Clinton, which has had many purposes over the years, at one time housing America’s first Immigrant Receiving Center until the center was relocated across the river to Ellis Island in 1892.

A little hard to see in these pictures but the Statue of Liberty is right across the river.
