Federal Hall

Federal Hall, Broad, and Wall St.

In 1790 was the nation's capital was New York. It was here in 1789 where George Washington took the oath of office as the first president of the United States.

But this was not the actual structure where it occurred.

In 1812 the original Federal Hall was demolished with the current structure, one of the first and best samples of Greek Revival, being constructed in 1842 as a customs house. The statue of George Washington sits where it is believed he stood while taking the oath. The Wall Street Bombing talked spit on another post happens right across the street but the building and stature where I touch by the explosion.
